I was recently on the hunt for a new travel backpack. And where’s the first place to look for a new travel backpack? That’s right: Amazon. Not long after I started my search, I came across the Taygeer Travel Backpack.

As a frequent traveler who prefers to travel light, I knew this was a definite contender. What made it even more alluring were the fact that I could get it shipped to me the next day (shoutout to Amazon Prime!) and the very reasonable price point.

The Taygeer Travel Backpack was precisely what I was looking for and I’m sure I’m not the only one. It boasts over 5,000 5-star reviews and is a feature Amazon’s Choice product.

In short, I’m quite impressed with the quality of this travel laptop backpack for the price, and I think it’s a great option for other frequent travelers, too.

Before getting into this review, I want to add that I am not getting paid for this. These are 100 percent my true thoughts on the bag. If you choose to purchase the bag through my link, I will get paid a small commission. With all that out of the way, let’s get into this Taygeer Travel Backpack review!

Taygeer Travel Backpack Specifications

Dimensions17 in. x 11 in. x 7 in.
Weight2.5 lbs.
Amazon PrimeOne-day shipping eligible

The Taygeer Travel Backpack comes in two sizes: large and x-large. I got the large (specs above). This backpack also comes in 13 beautiful colors, including black, light blue, cream, elephant gray, khaki, lilac, and peacock blue. I got it in amour pink, a light blush shade.

The bag is the perfect size for a personal item, even on the stingiest of airlines. I’ve used it on several Frontier Airlines flights so far and have never had an issue, so I can say that’s a win. It’s even great for low cost international airlines, such as Ryanair.

Airlines I’ve used the Taygeer Backpack on:

  • Southwest
  • Frontier
  • Ryanair
  • Allegiant
  • United
  • American

External Features

Exterior features of the Taygeer Travel Backpack

Ease of Handling

The Taygeer travel backpack has several handle options, making it easy to carry in various situations. It features adjustable backpack straps, a side handle, a top handle, and a trolley strap.

Convenience Features

Several features of the bag make life easier while traveling. The USB port allows you to keep your portable charger inside your bag while you charge it, letting you be hands-free as you traverse airports and train stations.

The trolley strap is a huge plus for me because the bag can easily slip onto a suitcase while commuting. It also has a water bottle pocket, which is awesome because I bring my Hydro Flask (aka my emotional support water bottle) everywhere.

The front zipper pocket is perfect for holding things that you’ll need frequently, such as your wallet and passport.

Comfort

The padding on the back panel is super soft and definitely helps distribute the weight of the bag to avoid fatigue. The exterior compression straps also allow you to compress the bag as much as possible, which certainly comes in handy when you’re on a full flight and have to store your bag under the seat in front of you.

Internal Features

Organization

I love that there are multiple pockets within the main compartment to keep my belongings nice and organized. On the left hand side, you have two pockets: a mesh pocket on the top and a plastic waterproof pocket on the bottom.

The main compartment is large and resembles the inside of a suitcase. This is great for those (like me) who use your backpack as a carry-on. The spacious main compartment allows you to pack a lot of clothes; I’ll go into more detail about this in the “fit test” section.

Space Saving

The compression straps on both the exterior and the interior allow you to fit more while taking up less space. This is super helpful when you’re only traveling with a carry-on, especially on budget airlines that adhere to strict baggage policies.

The bag also comes with a removable waterproof pouch, which allows you the option to bring it with you or leave it behind if you’re low on space. I’d bring mine for dirty laundry or extra shoe storage.

Laptop Compartment

The laptop compartment is padded and features room for multiple electronics. I was able to fit my Apple MacBook Air, iPad, and Amazon Kindle all at the same time. I usually only bring my iPad on long haul flights, so that will leave me with even more space on shorter trips.

There are several other pockets within the laptop compartment for small items like pens, business cards, and chargers. Perfect if you’re a business traveler or just enjoy working on the go.

Fit Test

I love having options. And this means that sometimes (ok… most of the time) I am an over-packer. So, I put this bag to the test to see how much it could hold while still being able to fully close and wear comfortably. Here are the results:

Main Compartment

  • 1 pair of sandals
  • Makeup bag (with makeup)
  • Hairbrush
  • 3 dresses
  • 3 swimsuits (2 bikini sets, 1 one piece)
  • 5 tops
  • 1 workout set (sports bra and leggings)
  • 2 pairs of shorts
  • 1 pajama set (shirt and shorts)

Laptop Compartment

  • MacBook Air Laptop
  • Amazon Kindle
  • iPad
  • Personal Documents
  • Wallet

Exterior Zipper Pocket

  • Liquids bag

This is about what I would typically pack for a warm destination. As you can see, I can fit a long weekend’s worth of clothing. It probably wouldn’t be suitable as your only luggage if you were going somewhere cold.

Wear Test

Here I’m wearing the backpack at home and at the airport about to catch an Allegiant flight. The backpack is super comfortable, thanks to the padded back panel. The backpack straps are easy to adjust and the multiple handles make it easy to switch up how you’re carrying it.

Pros

Size

It’s large enough to fit all of my travel essentials yet small enough to be considered a personal item on most airlines. It even fits within Spirit Airlines’ personal item size requirements!

Compression Features

I love that this backpack comes with adjustable exterior compression straps. It’s easy to compress clothing to make this backpack fit under an airplane seat.

U-Shaped Main Zipper Compartment

The U-shaped main zipper compartment was the main deciding factor for me when purchasing the Taygeer Travel Backpack. I loved that I could pack it just like a suitcase while being the size of an everyday backpack. The added compression straps also added to the suitcase feel.

Price

When considering buying a new travel backpack, the price was another major deciding factor for me. I wasn’t looking to break the bank, but I still wanted something that was sturdy and going to last me for years to come. Before any buying decision, I always make sure to read reviews just like this one to get the honest thoughts of other customers.

Cons

I personally didn’t find anything that immediately stuck out to me as a con. It’s fairly priced, feels sturdy, and is really cute. There were a couple of loose strings here and there, which could happen with any brand.

UPDATE: I’ve brought it on several trips at this point and I will say that it does stain easily, probably because of the light color I chose. However, it is super easy to clean and I’ve put it through the wash many times with no issues.

Not really a “con” per se, but I personally find USB ports on bags to be unnecessary and useless. That’s the only feature on this backpack that I don’t see myself utilizing often or at all.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I am very, very happy with this purchase. The Taygeer Travel Backpack is exactly what I was looking for. I love the u-shaped zipper of the main compartment, the separate padded laptop compartment, and the waterproof pouch and pocket. While the USB port is a bit useless, in my opinion, it’s still not something that would deter me from buying this laptop.

It’s a great backpack if you are a business traveler or just someone who prefers to travel light like me. This backpack would also make a fantastic gift for the frequent traveler in your life. It comes in so many different colors to fit a variety of styles.
